What is the Turkey Classic?

• It’s USA Swimming’s first ever Block Party National Virtual Invitational!

Who May Participate:

• Teams in the Block Party pilot. AND- teams interested in joining the pilot—> apply HERE.

How to Participate:

• Go to your USA Swimming Club Portal in SWIMS and sanction a Block Party Meet to take place anytime in the month of November. Please name your meet “Club Code and Turkey Classic”. (ex: KATY Turkey Classic)

• Athletes qualify to be included in the Turkey Classic National Leaderboard by swimming all of the 50’s in one meet (free, back, breast, fly). To qualify- swims must happen in the month of November, 50’s must be swam in one meet…your format is up to you (you can offer any other additional events)

• Turkey Classic National Leaderboard: Athletes 6 and under, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, and 15 and over, will be ranked by combining the times of the 4 50’s. (think “add up” 200 IM) Lowest time wins!

• Heed the mission! Simple, FUN, accessible- a chance for swimmers of all ages and abilities to shine- but ESPECIALLY those kids who are still falling in love with the sport. Let’s get a Turkey Classic under their belt- and watch what happens to your team’s growth and retention.

• Prizes: To Be Announced- prizes for athletes (leaderboard winners) and clubs (raffle)—-> stay tuned for more details.

Be Creative!

• You can run this competition during a practice! Be sure you legally time (3 watches/lane at a minimum) and officiate per the Block Party officiating requirements. (remember- you may use either USA Swimming Certified Officials in the MR, AO, ST roles- OR- USA Swimming Coaches may cover those roles.)

• HAVE FUN with it- music, decorations, bob for apples between events…order themed heat winner prizes.

• Run the event as a fundraiser for your team!
